Government issues Ebola outbreak alert statement to parliament



Government has today issued an Ebola outbreak alert statement to the parliament and the whole nation

The minister for Health, Christine Ondoa confirmed to Parliament that the disease had claimed the lives of 14 persons, 10 of them from the same family.

The dead include a Clinical Officer who initially attended to the patients at Kagadi hospital and her four months old baby.

The Clinical Officer had been referred to Mulago hospital where she succumbed to the disease on July 20th, 2012.

Latest reports from the ministry indicate that a total of 36 cases had been recorded with 18 patients admitted at Kagadi government hospital isolation facility.

Forty contact persons who got into contact with the suspected victims are being closely monitored for any symptoms of the disease.
