Thailand's Farmers told to watch out for bird flu



The Livestock Development Department (LDD) is on high alert against a possible outbreak of bird flu, which usually flares up in the cool season.
LDD chief Tritsadee Chaosuancharoen said the department had instructed poultry farm owners and volunteers to look out for for any unusual deaths of fowls.
Farmers have been told to take special care of fowls during the cool season, when the animals are at risk of contracting the bird flu virus.
The LDD also encourages the farmers to raise poultry in a closed system, which can limit the chance of virus infection among the chickens.
