Strengthening quarantine, the risk of influenza death from Cambodia



(Reuters) - Within a month, in Cambodia has happened 4 deaths due to bird flu A/H5N1. Vietnam has intensified international medical quarantine to prevent the spread of this deadly flu infection.

On 4/2, Deputy Director of Preventive Medicine Tran Thanh Duong signed the power to strengthen prevention and control of influenza A/H5N1 infection risk in Vietnam, especially in the provinces bordering with Cambodia.
Accordingly, the Department of Health requires health departments should strengthen the international festival quarantine activities, early detection of cases of high fever and signs of respiratory tract infection, quarantine, treatment to minimize the spread of A/H5N1 flu in the country.
And should coordinate with the Agriculture strengthen supervision of poultry, waterfowl, imported and domestic, early detection of outbreaks in poultry, waterfowl, implement timely measures.
In addition need to strengthen surveillance, early detection of suspected cases of influenza A/H5N1 infection in humans. The hospital must be willing to collect content, isolation and timely treatment of patients according to the protocol of the Ministry of Health and timely notification to the Center for Preventive Medicine for investigation and handling of the outbreak.
